Q.What is the difference between elastin & collagen?

Elastin is also a protein found in connective tissues—but a different type of protein than collagen. It has the actual property of being elastic. It's responsible for allowing tissues in the body to “snap back” to their original shape after being stretched or contracted.

Q. What causes wrinkles? What happens to the skin over time and what kind of products cause wrinkles?

After the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age. There is also diminished functioning of the sweat and oil glands and less elastin production. Ageing also occurs as a result of sun and environmental damage. Alone or in concert, these processes give the skin the appearance of roughness, uneven tone, brown patches, thin skin and deep wrinkles. Sulfates, alcohols, salts, Chemicals present in skin products like sunscreens also can cause wrinkles.

Q. Is it true that dry skin wrinkles faster? Why?

Yes, dry skin wrinkles faster as the amount of collagen in the skin reduces.

Q. What should be my basic skincare routine to prevent early wrinkles?

Prevention is key to minimizing wrinkles. The most important thing is to take care of your skin before all these changes start to take place. Sun protection against both UVA, UVB rays and Infrared radiation is critical 365 days a year. Use a sunscreen that blocks the ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Use of retinol, vitamin C helps improve fine lines, the appearance of pores, precancerous changes, and brown spots.
